Kosovo Health Information System Project - March 2015
Kosovo Health Information System Project is designed to improve public health and the quality and efficiency of health care service delivery in Kosovo. The objective of the project is to develop a health information software platform, as part of the nationwide integrated Health Information System (HIS), an interoperable system of clinical, public health and health information technology which will implement a nationwide electronic health record system together with other important HIS building components, such as clinical registries, medical decision support, admission-discharge-transfer, billing and public health statistics.
The related tender was launched by the Luxembourg Agency for Development Cooperation (Lux-Development) and the Kosovo Ministry of Health, on behalf of Project KSV/014 – Health Support Programme in Kosovo, receiving financial support from the governments of the Republic of Kosovo and of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The consortium consisting of VAMED Management and Service GmbH & Co KG, DataSel Bilgi Sistemleri A.Ş., Orion Health Limited and Printec LLC was awarded.
AviCenna is chosen to serve as Nationwide Health Information Management System in Kosovo. The project shall be implemented in four phases. In the first and the most important phase of the project, which is already implemented, the system shall be running at the University of Pristina Children's Hospital in March 2015. The management of 70+ hospitals and health centers’ information all over the country will be handled centrally. The complete project duration is 4 years. As the project completed, more than 4500 users in all health care institutions in Kosovo will be using AviCenna. AviCenna has been serving successfully as National Health Information Management System since 2010 in Palestine, and will re-prove its success again with a new nationwide project in Kosovo.
